welcome to my blog! I’m all smiles and excited sitting here and writing this post today. I’ve always loved writing and I’m glad to be able to channel it more into one of the many things I love – fashion! yeyyy!
So today I’m going to be showing you how to style a simple dress in different ways for different occasions. Simple dresses are called ‘simple’ but really they can be the most gorgeous pieces ever as they are so versatile and easy to dress up or down to suit the right occasion. They have the advantage of being able to go anywhere that certain dresses really can’t go. So if you’ve got a lot of simple dresses and feel it’s all too simple in your closet, then consider yourself as having a lot of stylish pieces.
We’ll be starting off with this plane cobalt blue dress by H&M. I’ll be showing you how to style it for church, event/party and a time out shopping.
For church, you’ll want to pick your accessories right without having to over-do it. Remember you do not want to be loud, but you want to look stylish and elegant. On a dress like this you’ll want to keep your colors together and well coordinated giving proper consideration to the color of your dress. I chose soft pink shades for this dress because the dress is already in a strong shade of blue. Contrasting it against another strong shade would be absolutely too much and just too strong for your femininity. Remember you’re supposed to have your style game on or atleast look like you do.
I accessorized with pink and black shoes from Zara, pink easy clutch bag from zara also, pink statement necklace and pink glitter stud earrings from RVC – RUGINAVINCY’S CLOSET. So if you’re looking to get them, you’re in luck, let’s hope they are still in stock at the time you’re reading this post. I’ll add a link to all the RVC accessories I used at the bottom of this post. So if you have your simple dress(es) in another plane color and you want to accessorize it for church just like this, all you need to do is to ensure you co-ordinate your colors right, don’t involve too many different colors at the same time but a soft transition of hues in the same color would be fine and be sure you don’t overdo it with the accessories. Also keep in mind to use stronger colored accessories for softer dress shades and vice versa.
Want to turn that simple dress of yours to an event dress? That’s easy! it’s all about your accessories! For this look, you’ll want to pick out a stylish pair of shoes like I did, a stylish purse, some chandelier earrings and a glamorous bracelet. Remember that for an event, you want to switch that dress up some more and give it some up-beat. I ensured the clutch, earrings and bracelet had a bling coordination going on while I toned down on the shoes while keeping it stylish. You can also rock this look with some blinged up shoes but remember not to overdo it especially with gladiator style shoes. Keep in mind that you want to look elegant in your style and not excessive. You also want to be the showstopper without looking like you tried so hard to be noticed. You digg?
A little extra tip would be lips that pop depending on your particular dress shade. Ofcourse I recommend red lips on this blue dress. it’s an absolute win!
The sandals are from Just Fab U.S, I’m sorry I can’t remember where the clutch is from but the earrings and bracelet are also from our store right here. I’ll also add buying links for RVC products i used at the end of this post.
A DAY OUT SHOPPING
Ahhh!! how I love this look for it’s crisp freshness. It’s simple, easy and at the same time it’s chic. The aim here is to just look easy, stylish and chic and just have fun with your shopping without having so much baggage to drag around. Who wants to have to deal with carrying shopping bags while also dealing with what could be a possible fashion mishap-you definitely do not want to be overdressed on this occasion, no no! But you sure do not want to trade your style for it.
So for this look and the same dress, I recommend keeping the accessories minimal like in the photo. I paired this look with block heels because they are a lot more comfortable than our stilettos and so they promote your walk around as you shop. Still if this is too much for you you can pair this look with flat shoes instead, just as long as you are comfortable.
I kept the accessories on low key without loosing the style accent. The earrings are small studs and yet super fashionable because you do not want to have earrings dangle about while you move around and do your thing. I switched up the bracelet for color, style and depth because these are the only two jewelry pieces on this trip. You still want to stand out effortlessly remember. And finally to top off this look I added a pair of glasses, this just gives that overall fun statement which is what you’re off to do anyway since it’s not a serious out trip or date or anything. The clutch bag also comes with chain straps so this bag can be hung on your shoulder if your hands seem to be getting busy or you can well easily stick it in one of your shopping bags if the clutter seems to be rising. You just want to be able to enjoy your time out shopping with no stress and simply staying beautiful still.
So the block heels I used in this look are from Zara, the clutch bag is from New Look, the glasses are a random pair and the earrings and bracelet are from RVC (buying links below).
